2020 Pinot Noir "H", St. Remy
2020 Pinot Noit The “H” - $54.99 Easily drinks like a $100 bottle of Pinot from CA or Burgundy. We have only six bottles. That’s all. I was tempted to buy it all for myself, but it is too good not to share. Pinot Noir “H” 2020 is rich, decadent, and compellingly ready for consumption. It is the most expensive wine in our catalog, but it easily beats wines at twice the price.
Dry Red Wine: A rich and powerful Alsace Pinot Noir with melted tannins. This Pinot Noir comes from an exceptional terroir, the Grand Cru Hengst. It is to be enjoyed with grilled red meats, game, and cheeses. Facing south, south-east, it extends at an altitude of 270 to 360 meters on a fairly steep slope. The soil, mainly comprised of Oligocene conglomerates and calcareous marls, gives the wine a solid and structured character. Grapes are rigorously sorted, destemmed, and placed in maceration tanks. The berries remain in contact with the juice during alcoholic fermentation to extract the tannins and coloring compounds from the wine. Pressing will take place after 2 to 3 weeks of maceration. Aged for 20 months in barrels. 228L
The Pinot Noir from this terroir, the Grand Cru HENGST, will be entitled to bear the Grand Cru appellation for the first time in Alsace for a red wine from the 2022 vintage.
James Suckling 94/100: “A wine of character, ripe and rich. We feel notes of red plums, dried strawberries, red fruits and spices. Medium-bodied to full-bodied and dense on the palate with a creamy texture and a hint of citrus. Structured and long on the palate.”
